A Disney World Food Guide That Makes Me Want to Go to Disney World
Shay's Ultimate Disney World Food Guide has the best places to eat and drink in the parks, resorts, and more.
If we’ve met once, you probably already know how I feel about Disney World. I’ve ranted about the sky high prices, I’ve called it a cultural forgery (I’m sorry!) and I once, as a 40-year-old mother of three, had an epic meltdown in Disney Springs. (It was the very end of a very long day and I couldn’t find the Uber pickup spot. My three young daughters watched me cry in silent confusion, a moment I hope they’ll work through in therapy someday.)
In no small part, my feelings stem from how overwhelming Disney can be, especially if you’re trying to make your hefty investment (in fun, core memories, general happiness) feel worthwhile. The central irony, though, is that the more you attempt to make the MOST of your time at Disney — setting the alarm to book rides, painstakingly plotting out itineraries and researching the best dining options to make sure you’re not paying, as we once did, $350 on an extremely mid buffet dinner of chicken — the less time you can be present … having fun with you family.
As of last weekend, there’s a solution. Disney Expert Shay Spence published his Ultimate Disney World Food Guide, and it’s the most comprehensive, helpful, and charming way to experience eating and drinking in the parks (and the resorts, and Disney Springs, god help me.)
I learned where to find the actual best soft pretzel (it’s not Mickey shaped) and Dole Whip (it’s not pineapple flavored), his least favorite bites (i.e, the places we won’t waste money, looking at you, buffet chicken nuggs), what restaurants are open after the parks close and which have upfront views of the fireworks, and the spot he calls “The best place to hide from your family and drink in Disney World.”
And as with all Saltete guides, it’s digital and interactive. You can tap the Near Me button to see any of these places around you while you’re in it, waiting in line at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train … or for your Uber at Disney Springs.
